New Tim Holtz
From the Tim Holtz Blog...the new stamp and stencil releases were really an eclectic mix with a bit of steampunk, victorian, backgrounds, phrases, and the addition of the new mini crazy birds and things and the talk of them all, crazy mini stencils. i have been wanting mini versions of all of my layering stencils to use on smaller tags and collage projects and i am so thankful stampers anonymous has agreed to do them. they are being released in sets of three and are about 45 percent smaller than their larger counterpart.

Tutorial: add color to your intricate die cuts with Bibiana

Today we have Bibiana with a quick tutorial!

Today I am very excited to share with you all
this quick tutorial as a Guest Designer
On how to give some color to your intricate die cuts!
how to color die cuts thank you card front
The background was sponged with distress inks and sponges....
see the green on the left...
as for the intricate die....
how to color die cuts thank you card step 1
When die cutting, do not tear apart the die from the paper...color on top "randomly" with different shades of a same color of markers, color pencils or even use daubers ...
I used 3 different shades: a light, a medium and a dark one...
No particular way, no need to be careful...this goes VERY quickly!
same result if you are using color pencils or daubers with ink...

When you tear it apart this is the result:  a multi color branch

For the word: I trace with a ruler lines of color with the markers;
start with one or two lines of a lighter purple over the word, move the ruler trace some more lines with a medium tone and finish with a darker color...

Remember this technique can be substituted by other mediums....
Some Other Options:
Replace the permanent markers by using the same steps....
2- with Prismacolor pencils and "Gamsol"
4- with "Versamark" ink and embossing powders for a shinier effect...
6- with chalks/ "Panpastels"....
