Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paint by Ranger Ink

This is a Creative Bite Project using Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints by Ranger Ink and Scrapbook Decor Canvas in the 5x5 size. This was my first canvas painting ever, I've doodled with painting on paper but never ventured onto a canvas. Seems funny to me that I hadn't tried canvases before -I wonder how many I would have done if I had just given it a try. I'm hooked now and I give credit to Dawn Rice from the Somerset Memories Magazine Feb/March issue. What I love about Somerset Magazines are how the articles give little how to's and they tell what products they used. This came in helpful for a beginner like myself. Also, Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints have paints, Gesso, Brushes, Gel Mediums and Canvases so everything is easy to order for painting.
In the new Somerset Studios Magazine by Stampinton (which we carry in the store) I've already highlighted some fun things to try next. I'm going to keep my brushes and paints out in the open to use more often.

Heidi Swapp Ghost Shape Wings.

This is before I added the Claudine Hellmuth Studio painterly pink and Claudine Hellmuth Studio modern red.

Mother's Day

Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! We went to my favorite spot -the Mesquite Growers Nursery. If you live in Tucson this is the garden spot to visit for all your plants.

These are all roses! Roses grow well in the desert because we have so little rain they don't get mildew spots. They also love the sun like we do.

PaloVerde Tree flowers.
Check out the metal umbrella, very artsy!

These are the cutest huge frogs.

We are here for a tomato plant.

Is this not a wonderful planter! Fairies must live there.

Jake found the perfect tomato plant.

They have the most beautiful water fountains all over the nursery -perfect to cool us off.

Elsie's face I telling me enough of the heat already, lets go home.

They have this enormous Mesquite tree for shade.

Here are our 2 plants -next year we'll come back in March when we can look around longer -it's just too hot today- 100.

I love Mothers Day.

EK Success Rulers

3 new rulers by EK Success are now in. The EK Success Ruler Pro 3x15-this ruler has one side with a metal edge for rotary blades or crafting knives.
There is this small EK Success Mini Pro Ruler and the EK Success CENTERING Ruler Pro which is my favorite. I like the centering ruler because it's thin and flexible -easy to travel with.

Fancy Pants Designs

We have in-stock the new Fancy Pants Designs Mixed Media Scrapbooking books, stamps and chipboard. There are 4 different designs of the Mixed Media books to play with and they are definetly unique. I love the idea of hand stitching or machine sewing some zig zags on the felt pieces-I would use a nice bright yarn or thread for contrast. Don't forget to use the
Fancy Pants Felt Shapes which are already to pop on the page with a little glue or stitching. You can use the no-sew stitch witchery sold at fabric stores to attach with a great bond. I use stitch witchery all the time to hem. This works best for me to get the hem straight- I've even used it to make quick curtains.

We thought the 7gypsies Binderie was the easiest and fastest way to punch holes in this book.

6 sheets of cute big board chipboard for both girls and boys to play with.

This is the BIG 10 inch Fancy Pants SUMMER SOIREE Clear Stamp set full of whimsical stamps -the summer one for beach weather, right around the corner.

Check out the tree -I have my hands showing the size. That's just one stamp on this Fancy Pants ON A WHIMSY Clear Stamp 10"set!

So, now that you have the biggest stamp set -yes, you'll need the biggest stamp pad! Only kidding, this pad is hugh but not necessary for these stamps. I really get a kick out of the size of the pad. Word out is that once you use the giant pad it's hard to go small. Funny, I usually use tiny Colorbox Cats Eye. I'm going to try this 6 inch coffee one.

Fancy Pants DELIGHT Clear Stamp 10" set and Ranger Inks Archival Ink Pad coffee.

My Little Yellow Bicycle Zinna Collection

My Little Yellow Bicycle Zinna Collection with a refreshing floral blue theme perfect for spring -not spring in the 100 degree desert, but I remember beautiful springs in Boston where I grew up and especially Spring in North Carolina. We lived in North Carolina for over 10 years, with those dogwoods and azaleas. Scott and I had a fabulous garden in Greensboro -lots of roses, tons of daffodils and herbs everywhere. Now, in the desert, we have cactus and no annual flowers. My son and I are growing some oregano from seed but I don't have much hope for them making it through the summer season. If I forget a day or two of watering and bingo they die. If I keep them in a pot they may have a chance, but I do have the goal of seeing oregano spread across a patch of rocks so a pot won't work. If they don't make it we'll try again next year.

Take a look at My Little Yellow Bicycle ZINNIA Album Kit, Little Yellow Bicycle ZINNIA 6x6 Tablet and Little Yellow Bicycle ZINNIA Cardstock Stickers.

Little Yellow Bicycle ZINNIA Album Kit has 1 - 9 3/4 x 8 3/4 inch album with post extenders, 10 protector pockets with insert sheets, 8 - 8x8 papers, 4 specialty papers, 41 epoxy stickers, 15 clear frosted stickers, 4 layered stickers, 100 cardstock stickers.

Little Yellow Bicycle ZINNIA Fabric Stickers - Words, Little Yellow Bicycle ZINNIA Clear Glitter Stickers and Little Yellow Bicycle ZINNIA Clear Cuts Shapes.

Newsletter coupon

Scott finished moving and loves the big space, except for one little problem...no air conditioning. The A/C is not working!!! Last week it was 90 plus in the warehouse. Everyone was moving very slowly trying to catch a breeze from floor fans. I Hope today it's all fixed for them.
The newsletter went out with a coupon for 20% off everything Monday 5/4/09(today) and Tuesday 5/5/09!!! Cool huh! Well, maybe cool for you...it's supposed to be in the high 90's Monday and Tuesday - yikes. Use the code BG20 to get the discount when checking out and have a wonderful day/evening.

Basic Grey Wisteria Album

An album made with Basic Grey Wisteria papers and adding fun color using Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks by Ranger Inks. I really love this paper it has a very elegant feel.

All Basic Grey Wisteria papers were used -see the video below. I wet and distressed the edges.

I had never used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Gold before and I am hooked now. We are temporarily out of gold - more is coming!

What a striking purple in this collection.

I used Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks with a foam blending tool by Ranger Inks and a Sakura Koi Water Brush with Tim Holtz Alcohol Blending Solution in the brush for around the edges of circle piece.

Goodies I can't wait to add to the album - Basic Grey WISTERIA Chip Sticker Shapes and Basic Grey WISTERIA Olio Rub-ons.

If you want to be on our Video Design Team -email Scott with photo samples of your work, your blog and a video link if you have one.

Basic Grey Calendar

It's May already!  For this calendar page I used only KandCompany for embellishments.
The KandCompany MADELINE Die-cut Card stock pieces to be exact.

Oops, I see a little American Crafts rub-ons flower next to the KandCompany die-cuts.

I sure hope Basic Grey makes these calenders next year, they are soooo easy and quick.

Somerset Studio Magazine

The Somerset Studio Magazine by Stampington and Company May/June issue is now in-stock.
What I love about the Somerset Studio Magazine is that there are lots of articles that tell you how to make the project. I get so inspired to expand my creativity. I've actually painted my first canvas ever after reading the last issue. Granted the canvas is 5x5, but it's a start. I'll have a video when I'm done.
In this May/June issue I liked the article on Pinhole Art by Sandra Evertson on page 80 and too many others to mention. I do have a new project in mind though after reading this magazine. You're going to have to give either Somerset Studio or Stampers Sampler magazine a try -you are going to be happy you did.
